Elizabeth Yvonne Charlotte Hynes (Schulz), 49, Wausau, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024.
She was born on July 16, 1975, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Dennis and Lynda (Devine) Schulz. On Jan. 29, 2005, she married the love of her life, Joel Hynes, in Wausau, where they made their home with their five children.
Affectionately known as Beth, she was a devoted mother and wife, renowned for her selflessness. Beth and Joel dedicated themselves to raising their five children. They were actively involved in their faith at St. Mary’s Oratory and engaged with the church community. Their dedication extended to their children’s school, Newman Catholic, and several non-profit organizations. They consistently sought opportunities to contribute to their community in meaningful ways.
She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1994, earned an associate degree in Business Administration from Nicolet College, and took additional classes at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She also stood alongside Joel to build their business, PC Portal, which they have operated for 20 years.
Beth was a devoted and attentive mother who took great pride in raising her children. She played an active role in their lives, consistently offering support and encouragement in their various pursuits. Renowned for her determination and intelligence, Beth prioritized her children’s well-being by ensuring they were well-nourished with her expertly prepared meals and maintaining a welcoming home. Her children were her utmost priority, and she diligently worked to cultivate a nurturing, faithful, and loving environment for them.
She had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome. She opened her home to traveling athletes and coaches, providing them with an inviting place to stay, making it a home away from home. Her kindness and hospitality touched the lives of many, and her legacy of love and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her. She once organized a group luncheon at a local restaurant to provide a substantial tip to an unsuspecting waitress, enabling the waitress to purchase additional gifts for her children that she might not have otherwise been able to.
Beth enjoyed watching her children’s sporting events, playing cribbage with the family, watching Woodchucks baseball in the summer, knitting, spending time up north at Squash Lake, prayer and family time in the evening, and lively conversations with her children. She had a special love for spoiling Sam, the family Labrador, and took great joy in the simple pleasures of life, like spreading holiday cheer at Christmas. Her kitchen was often filled with the sweet smell of cookies as she delighted in creating lasting memories with family. Beth was also a devoted planner, always organizing family adventures and activities to ensure quality time spent with loved ones. Whether it was the excitement of their annual road trip to Florida or an adventure to France, Nashville, or Belize, Beth’s spirit of togetherness and love for travel will forever be remembered. She truly knew how to make every moment special, and her warmth and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.
Beth was devoted to her faith, celebrating Mass every Sunday with her family at St. Mary’s Oratory. She expressed her beliefs through prayer, kindness, and community service, such as making meals for the Oratory’s Canons and Oblates. Her unwavering devotion was a guiding light and inspiration to all who knew her.
