RHS Sports recap: Thursday, Dec. 12
Boys’ hockey: Tomahawk 10, Rhinelander 0
The Rhinelander High School boys’ hockey team was no match for the top-ranked team in Division 2 Thursday night, losing to Tomahawk 10-0 at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.
The Hatchets scored four times in the first 5:23 of the contest as they lead 5-0 after one period. They tacked on another five goals in the second period.
Shots were 68-7 in favor of the Hatchets. Asher Rivord was credited with a career-high 58 saves in the loss for Rhinelander.
The Hodags (1-4-0, 0-2-0-0 Great Northern) host Pacelli in non-conference play this coming Tuesday,
Boys’ swim: Rhinelander 116, Tomahawk 46
The Rhinelander High School boys’ swim team won all 11 events Thursday night and defeated the Tomahawk Hatchets 116-46 in GNC play in Tomahawk.
Shawn Denis and Mathias Fugle were four-event winners for the Hodags. Denis took the 100-yard freestyle and the 100 backstroke; Fugle won the 500 freestyle and was on all three winning relays while Denis was on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle squads.
Charlie Antonuk won the 200 freestyle for Rhinelander, Dean Gillingham took the 200 individual medley, Judson O’Malley won the 50 freestyle, Dolan O’Malley claimed the 100 butterfly and Samson Shinners claimed the 100 breaststroke.
Rhinelander (3-0 GNC) hosts the Hodag Relays on Saturday.
