Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander 65, Northland Pines 48


The Rhinelander High School boys’ basketball team had four players in double figures Friday night as it moved to 4-0 on the year with a 65-48 victory over Northland Pines in Eagle River. 


The Hodags led wire-to-wire, opening the game on a 21-2 run and taking a 36-18 lead to halftime. The Eagles never got any closer than 14 points in the second half. 


Devon Feck lead Rhinelander with 16 points, Truman Lamers had 14, Evan Shoeder had 13 and Abe Gretzinger chipped in 10. Mylo Albrecht had 13 to lead Northland Pines.


The Hodags (4-0, 2-0 Great Northern) host Ashland on Tuesday.


Girls’ basketball: Rhinelander 70, Northland Pines 22


The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team cruised past Northland Pines 70-22 Friday night at home. The Hodags opened the game on a 17-0 run and never looked back, leading 47-16 at the break.


Vivian Lamers led three Hodags in double figures with 20 points. Aubryn Clark had 18 and Kelsey Winter chipped in 10. Ellie Smith scored eight to lead Northland Pines. 


Rhinelander (6-1, 3-0 Great Northern) travels to Tomahawk next Friday night.
