Jennifer Lynn Karlen

Jennifer Lynn Karlen, age 53, of Woodboro, was called home to the lord on December 2, 2024. She was born on August 16, 1971, in Milwaukee, to Barry and Ruth (Schofield) Hough.

Jennifer attended schools in Iowa and then graduated from West Bend High School. She went on to further her education at UW Stevens Point, earning a degree in Special Education. After college she taught special education all across the state. Jennifer also homeschooled her children for several years.

On July 14, 2001, she married John Karlen in Rhinelander. They relocated to other areas of the country for several years but returned to the Northwoods in 2015, as no place else felt like home.

She enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, Friday night pizza, traveling, and playing with her pets. She also looked forward to family movie night at the end of each day.

Jennifer is survived by her husband John, her son Joshua Karlen, her daughter Jessica Karlen, her parents Barry and Ruth Hough, her brothers Brian Hough and Eric (Melina) Hough, her sister Kristin (Steven) Ramassini, other family members, friends and pets.

There will be a visitation for Jennifer on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a memorial service following at noon, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Majeski will be officiating. You may leave your private condolences for the Karlen family at www.carlsonfh.com.
