Arbor Vitae man killed in one-vehicle crash in Newbold

A 71-year-old Arbor Vitae man was killed Friday, November 29 as a result of a one-vehicle accident on County Highway J in the Town of Newbold.

According to the Oneida County sheriff’s office, the accident was reported at approximately 3:18 p.m.

“Upon arriving, responding units found one vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree,” the sheriff’s office reported in a press release. “Attempts to render aide to the driver were not successful.”

 The deceased driver was identified as David Woods, 71, from Arbor Vite.

Also responding to the call were the Woodruff Police Department, the Minocqua Police Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Oneida County Ambulance, St Germain Fire Department and First Responders, and the Oneida County Medical Examiner. MEDEVAC was requested but canceled before arrival.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is completing the crash investigation, the release said.
