RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, Dec. 3
Girls’ basketball: Rhinelander 63, Medford 58, OT
Aubryn Clark scored a Rhinelander High School single-game record 43 points Tuesday night as the Hodags rallied from down 21 late in the first half to defeat Medford 63-58 in overtime in the GNC opener at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
The Hodags still trailed by 5 with less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation but Lexi Beran had a put back and, after two missed free throws by Medford, Clark drilled a 3 from the top of the key with less than 6 seconds to play to force bonus basketball.
Clark had six of Rhinelander’s 10 points in overtime, including a pair of free throws in the waining seconds that allowed her to eclipse Ava Lamers’s school record of 42 points, set in an overtime loss at Rice Lake in November 2022.
Dawsyn Barkus had seven points and Vivian Lamers added six for Rhinelander. Taylor Klingbeil paced Medford with 26 points while Kayla Baumgartner had 13.
