Rain decides track titles at Eagle River Speedway

Mother Nature was the final decider of who earned track championships at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday as the final points night of racing for 2024 was washed out due to severe weather.

As a result, the points chases in the respective divisions are done and track champions have been decided.

In the Late Model class it was hometown racer Jason Zdroik who captured the championship. Zdroik, who also won the division crown in 2023. Kory Joliff of Mass City, Mich. edged out another Michigan racer, Dave Dishaw, by one slim point to collect the B-Modified track title.

Wisconsin’s winningest IMCA Stock Car driver — Pulaski’s “Hot Rod” Snellenberger — earned his third track championship, edging out hometown driver Jonathan Miller by a 24-point margin.

Eagle River’s Quentin Morrison won his first career track championship in the Street Stocks. Morrison beat out Mass City, Michigan’s Wyatt McIntyre by nine markers to secure the title.

Escanaba, Michigan’s Chase Richer repeated as track champion in the 600 Micro Sprints. Hometown driver Mason Meier dominated action in the 300 Micro Sprint division. Prentice’s Brent Mindock secured the Pure Stock track crown.

Two nights of racing remain in 2024 at Eagle River Speedway. Saturday, Aug. 31 will see the third annual Grand National Sportsman showcase. Joining the Grand Nationals will be the track’s weekly divisions including the 500 Micro Sprints from Escanaba Motor Speedway. The Grand Nationals will battle for a $2,550 top prize.

The season finale will be a late model special Saturday, Sept. 7. Same as Aug. 31 —  all the track’s regular weekly divisions will be in action. Seubert Calf Ranches Incorporated is sponsoring the Late Model show Sept. 7 that will payout $1,500-to-win and $200-to-start. The late models will follow the Eagle River Speedway/USRA-style rules.

Start times for both Saturday specials will be 6 p.m.
