Marilyn M. Tober

Marilyn M. Tober, age 92 of Rhinelander, died on August 26, 2024. She was born on January 10, 1932, in Rhinelander, to Clara and Ben Walters.

She married Keith Tober on April 15, 1967, and they enjoyed 53 wonderful years of companionship, until his passing on October 3, 2020.

Marilyn joined Friends of the Rhinelander Animal Shelter on February 4, 1982, as a charter member. Helping companion animals in need became her mission. She took pride in her family and loved her rides in the beautiful Northwoods. Her faith in God was strong and quite frequently shared, greeting each day as a blessing.

Marilyn is survived by her sons Robert Tober, Patrick (Judy) Hunter and Michael Hunter of Rhinelander, her daughter Linda Cates of Wausau, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Keith and her parents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Senior Hearts Home Care’s Senior Aide Ashley and the team at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the support and care they provided over the last months.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be directed to the Oneida County Humane Society.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery in Rhinelander.
