Girls’ swim: Rhinelander 100, Stevens Point 70

The Rhinelander High School girls’ swim team’s depth reigned supreme Wednesday night in a battle of conference champions.

The Hodags won six races, including two of the three relays, and defeated Stevens Point 100-70 in a non-conference dual meet in Stevens Point.

Sophomores Ella Heck and Vivian Lamers won three events each for Rhinelander. Lamers took the 50 freestyle, Heck won the 100 breaststroke and both were on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay squads. Ellyse Younker claimed the 100 butterfly and Lily Thorsen won the 100 freestyle.

Rhinelander (1-0, 0-0 Great Northern) begins conference play at Antigo next Thursday.
