Dennis Allen Cleland

Dennis Allen Cleland, age 65, of Rhinelander, died on Aug. 20, 2024, at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on April 11, 1959, in Rhinelander, to William and Hazel (Hails) Cleland.

He grew up in Rhinelander and attended Rhinelander High School where he ran track and cross country. He graduated high school in 1977 and shortly after he joined the United States Marine Corps. Dennis served until he was honorably discharged and moved back home to help with the farm. He also worked at Mole Lake Casino for many years.

Dennis loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, playing lawn jarts. He also enjoyed playing dart ball, karaoke, family game night, and being Santa. Dennis was a big football fan and loved his Green Bay Packers and participating in fantasy football. His cat Chloe was very important to him and was his baby.

He is survived by his daughters Heather (Ryan) Gehrig and Hope (Mark) Gillich, his grandchildren Samantha, Tyler, Grady, Dillon, and Bradley, his great-grandchild Baylee, his nieces and nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Barbara, Beverly, Babetta, and Bonnie.

There will be a visitation for Dennis held on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home.
