YMCA holds annual fall plant sale

The YMCA of the Northwoods’ Active Older Adult Department is getting ready for its annual fall plant sale. Beautiful mums in 8” pots can be ordered for $14 and come in yellow, rust or purple variations along with a special tri-colored mum for $18, according to a YMCA press release. A purple aster in a 8” pot is $14. A fall arrangement in a 12” pot made up of ornamental kale, grasses and flowering plants can be purchased for $25. 

 “We look forward to this sale every year, because the plants are so healthy and beautiful,” said Marilyn Duschl of the YMCA. “ I set mine outside on my deck and they last until Thanksgiving.”

 Forth Floral will be providing the plants for this fundraiser that supports older adults who want to remain active and healthy. 

“Active Older Adult programs at the Y give seniors the opportunity to improve their strength and fitness,” the release states. “They also provide a place to socialize and meet new friends regardless of income.”

Plant orders and payment must be received by Aug. 20. Pick up will be at the Y on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Order forms can be picked up at the Y or found online at www.ymcaofthenorthwoods.org. For more information, or to place an order, call 715-362-9622.
