W.I.L.D. Triathlon returns Aug. 24
Join mini-triathletes at Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander at 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24 for the annual W.I.L.D. Hodag Mini Triathlon.
The mini-triathlon consists of a 300-yard swim (or half-mile kayak), 10K off-road bike ride and 5K run that will challenge athletes among the woods & waters of the scenic Northwoods.
Registration is on going. The entry fee is $85 for individuals and $160 for relay team through Aug. 18. Week of and on-site registration is $100 per individual and $300 per relay team

Pickleball group to hold free lessons
The Rhinelander Pickleball Group will be providing two free lessons to all of those interested in learning the game.
The lessons will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 and Thursday, Aug. 29, and will take place at the Pioneer Park pickleball courts. Anyone age 10 and up is invited. Paddles and balls will be provided, if needed.
“The sport of pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country,” organizers stated in a press release. “Everyone in encouraged to come and learn now to play this fun sport made for all age groups.”
According to the Rhinelander Pickleball Group, it is a loosely-formed organization with more than 500 members who play on courts at Pioneer Park, the YMCA of the Northwoods and the Hodag Dome.
