Man killed in single-vehicle accident in St. Germain
A single-vehicle accident Thursday in the town of St. Germain claimed the life of the vehicle’s sole occupant, a 40-year-old Lac du Flambeau man.
According to a press release issued by the Vilas County sheriff’s office, at approximately 12:12 p.m. the sheriff’s office received a call reporting a single vehicle rollover at the intersection of State Highway 155 and St. Germain Boulevard.
“Deputies determined that the vehicle was traveling east on STH 70, proceeded through the intersection onto S.t Germain Blvd. at a high rate of speed,” the press release said. “The vehicle struck a large boulder causing the vehicle to roll several times. The lone male occupant was ejected and suffered life-threatening injuries.”
The male was taken to the Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff and subsequently flown to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, the press release states. At 2:30 a.m., he was pronounced deceased.
After notification of relatives, law enforcement identified the deceased as Travis Maki, 40, of Lac du Flambeau.
The St. Germain Ambulance and Fire Department and Oneida County Ambulance service assisted at the scene.
