Charles George Anderson left this world on July 31, 2024, at the age of 95. He died of natural causes in Rhinelander.

Charles (known as Chuck, and also as Chizzy when he was young) was born in Eveleth, Minn. on July 13, 1929. He attended school and played football in Mountain Iron, Minn., and college (where he also played football) for 2 years in Virginia, Minn. He graduated with a degree in Forestry from the University of Minnesota. He was proud to have served in the Marine Corps.

In June of 1953, he married his childhood sweetheart, Adele Rahko. Together they raised four sons. After briefly working for the State of Minnesota, he was employed by the U.S. Forest Service which took him and his family to many places: Southwestern Oregon; Portland and Tigard, Oregon; Manistique and Hoxeyville, Michigan; Rhinelander; Elkins, West Virginia and Duluth, Minn.

They made many friends along the way and retired in Rhinelander and Tucson, Arizona.

Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on new projects at home, gardening, watching Packers games, his nightly brandy Manhattan, and social activities with friends and family. He looked forward to taking a sauna at the family cabin on Lake Leander. He and his family took many canoe trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. He and Adele traveled in Europe and China as well as the US. They were devout Christians and active in the Catholic Church. They enjoyed reunions with their Forest Service friends. Chuck was a devoted husband and attended to his wife's needs until her passing in 2021. He missed her dearly as we will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his father Waino, his mother Margaret, his brother David and his wife, Adele.

He is survived by his sons Steven (Debi), Paul, Tim (Julie) and John, his grandchildren Maren Anderson, Carina Birkholz, Ben Anderson, Parker Stade, Tracy Monk and Karrie Liebherr.
