Keith C. Johnson, age 63, of Woodboro, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from injuries sustained in a truck accident. Keith was born in Rhinelander on March 12, 1961, the tenth child of Melvin C. and Donna E. (Smith) Johnson.
Keith was raised on a small farm in the Town of Woodboro. Many of his childhood days were spent milking cows and helping around the farm. As a teenager, many great memories were made spending a few summers farming in North Dakota with his cousin, Maynard Buck. Keith was a truck driver and forestry equipment operator for his entire life. He started his trucking career with Princl Transfer, which later became Old Reliable. Keith bought his own truck and leased with them to haul asphalt oil. Later, he worked in the logging industry hauling tens of thousands of cords of pulp to many paper mills. He could operate just about every kind of logging equipment from a forwarder or processor to a hot saw, which was the last thing he ran for Brian McCumber out of Tomahawk. Keith hauled pulp for Marshall Brothers and most recently, he worked for County Materials hauling bulk cement from Green Bay to the company’s many plants.
At a young age, Keith married Bonnie Hanson and had two children, Melvin and Anna. He later was married to Debra Bradley, and they had twins, Morgan and Asher.
He enjoyed family get-togethers, deer hunting with his family, and waking up early for work to watch the sunrise. Keith recently began meat smoking as a hobby. He loved to swim at Washburn Lake and enjoyed riding his Harley around northern Wisconsin.
Keith was a great father, brother, and friend and passed along many of his hunting and labor skills.
Survivors include his children, Melvin (Cassandra) Johnson, Anna (Mark) Rose, Morgan Johnson and Asher Johnson; his sisters, Sue Ann Johnson and Darlene “Darby” (Al) Ison; and his brothers, Matthew Johnson and Kyle (Rebecca) Johnson. Keith is further survived by his grandchildren, Kammron, Kendall, Jaxson, and Juliana; in addition to many cousins, nephews, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Donna; his brothers, Douglas Johnson, Donald Johnson, Randall Johnson and Jeffrey Johnson; and his sisters, Jennie Ison and Jeanne Cox.
Keith was a strong believer in Christ. His favorite Bible verse was one he heard in church at a young age, John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Keith called this the world’s greatest love story.
