RHS Sports recap: Monday, April 29

Golf: Rhinelander 2nd/16, Marathon Invite

The Rhinelander High School golf team shot 345 on Monday and took second in the 16-team Marathon Invite at Pine Valley Golf Course. The Hodags finished eight strokes behind first-place Medford.

Sam Schoppe and Brody Kowieski each shot rounds of 82, trying for sixth place on the day. Blake Petroff had an 87, Hank Kowieski shot 94 and Samuel Strong faded a 98.

The Hodags will be back in action Thursday as they host the third leg of the Great Northern Conference golf tournament at Northwood Golf Club.

Baseball: Lakeland at Rhinelander, ppd.

Monday’s Rhinelander-Lakeland baseball game at Stafford Field was postponed due to rain. The teams will make up the contest this coming Friday.

Rhinelander (1-9, 1-5 Great Northern) takes on D.C. Everest in non-conference play at home Tuesday.
