Girls’ soccer: Rhinelander 1-0-1, Rice Lake Invite

The Rhinelander High School girls’ soccer team played only one game on Saturday, but ended receiving credit for a win and a draw at the Rice Lake Invite.

Rhinelander played the host Warriors to a 0-0 draw in a defensive struggle. The Hodags unofficially outshot the Warriors 11-8 in the match. Mya Krouze made two saves in the draw.

The Hodags were supposed to play Baldwin-Woodville as well, but they withdrew from the invite after losing to Rice Lake 3-0 in the morning match. Rhinelander was given credit for a forfeit win as a result.

Rhinelander (7-0-2, 3-0-0-1 Great Northern) hosts conference-leading Lakeland on Tuesday.

Boys’ tennis: Rhinelander 6, Wausau East 1

The Hodags got in one more match Saturday in the weather-shortened Wausau West Invite, defeating Wausau East 6-1.

With John Currie out of the lineup for the day, the Hodags altered their lineup. Dalton Fritz moved back to No. 1 singles and led a singles sweep with Nick Lesch, Karter Massey and Calvin Loomis.

Joey Belanger/Gavin Denis and Dawson Pontell/Aiden Ostermann were winners at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles.

Rhinelander (11-5, 3-0 Great Northern) hosts Stevens Point in non-conference play on Tuesday.

Full reports will be published in Tuesday’s River News.
