JWMS track competes twice
The James Williams Middle School track team competed twice over the past few days. Both the boys’ and girls’ squads finished second Thursday, April 18 at the Merrill Quadrangular. On Monday the Hodag boys took second and the Hodag girls were fourth in a home pentangular at Mike Webster Stadium.
Cade Goffe led a top three sweep for the Hodag boys in the triple jump last Thursday in Merrill with Mathew Haselton second and Kamden Kostrova third. Dean Gillingham took the 800 meters and the high jump for JWMS, and was the runner-up in the 1,600. The Hodag boys won the 4x200 and got runner-up finishes from Wyatt Crowell in the 400, Chris Kanitz in the 200 hurdles, Michael Brunette in the 800 and Elias Puza in the long jump.
Charlotte LeClair led a 1-2-3 finish for the Hodag girls in the 400 with Olivia Eades and Gretchen Fiebke. Eades won the 100 and Addison Fish took the long jump. JWMS got runner-up finishes from MaKenzy Mess in the 100 hurdles, Noelle Mayo in the 1,600, Tatiana Vadis in the shot put and its 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
Haselton scored a win for the Hodags in the boys’ triple jump at home on Monday while the team finished first and third in the 4x200 relay. Gillingham was second in the 800 and third in the 1600, Kostrova took third in the triple jump and the Hodags were also third in the 4x800.
Madelynn Treder was the runner-up in the high jump and took second in the 200 for the Hodag girls, Fish was second in the long jump, Katie Hazelton was second in the 200 hurdles, Vadis took third in the shot put and the Hodags were third in the 4x200.

JV Golf
The Rhinelander High School JV golf team won a dual against Mosinee 212-225 Monday at Rhinelander Country Club. Sam Strong and Dylan Shefveland led the way for the Hodags, tying for second with rounds of 49. Will Gretzinger and Ryan Morien each shot 57, Drake Nelson and Drayke Arrowood each shot 60 and Carter Nelson shot 74.
