Two injured in Hwy. 17 collision
By River News Staff
Two people were injured Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision on Highway 17 North just south of Cross Country Road.
According to the Pine Lake Fire and Rescue Facebook page, Pine Lake volunteer firefighters responded to the accident scene at approximately 3:45 p.m.
“Firefighters arrived on scene to one pickup truck that crossed the center lane striking a SUV,” the Facebook post reads. “Both drivers were injured and transported to Aspirus Hospital emergent. A helicopter was also called and routed to Aspirus Hospital. Traffic was backed up (on) both north and southbound lanes as Hwy. 17 was shutdown during this incident.”
Eventually, the firefighters were able to open the southbound lane and allow alternating traffic flow, the release states.
Pine Lake Rescue 1, Engine 1 and Tanker 2 were all on scene.
The Oneida County sheriff’s office and ambulance also responded as did Medic 9-1, according to the Facebook post.
