Shooting suspect arrested near Rhinelander

A 36-year-old Merrill man wanted in connection with a shooting in Wausau Wednesday morning was arrested by Oneida County officers later the same day at a residence in Pelican.
According to Oneida County sheriff’s captain Tyler Young, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday the sheriff’s office was informed by the Wausau Police Department of a stolen silver 2003 Ford F150. The sheriff’s office was also informed the operator of the stolen F150, 36-year-old Zach Tesky of Merrill, was involved in a shooting in Wausau.
“At approximately 11 a.m. the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office stated that the vehicle was reported being seen eastbound on Highway 8 in the town of Pelican,” Young said in a press release. “Oneida County deputies were able to locate the vehicle and followed it to a residence on Beaver Creek Road in the Town of Pelican.”
At 11:23 a.m. local sheriff’s deputies were able to arrest Tesky and turn him over to the Wausau Police Department.
According to court records, Marathon County prosecutors have charged him with first-degree reckless injury, among other charges.
