Jean Frances Sneller, 85, of Tomahawk, and a former resident of Rhinelander, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at Tomahawk Health Services.
Jean was born in Rhinelander Nov. 30, 1938, to Vern J. and Catherine R. (Alexander) Hagen. She was raised in Rhinelander and graduated in 1956 from Rhinelander High School. She married Gerald Sneller in Rhinelander at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Sept. 2, 1964, and they later were divorced. Jean was employed at Twist Drill as a machine operator and at the Hodag Shopper.
She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and a former participant at Rhinelander’s Stunt Night. She also had been a former Fourth of July Parade organizer and a Town of Crescent volunteer firefighter.
Jean was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed fishing, teaching, and participating with her sons in hunting and fishing, camping, especially at Bond Falls, cooking, spending time making Christmas candy, and will be remembered for her love of animals.
She will be dearly missed by her sons: Vern (Tina) Sneller of Fond du Lac, John Sneller of Rhinelander, Paul (Laura) Sneller of Rhinelander, eight grandchildren: Nick Sneller, Olivia Sneller, Spencer (Julie) Thiel, Joe (Brooke) Thiel, Teagan (Mckayla) Thiel, Sydney (Bryce) Dohrmann, Keanu Sneller, and PFC Lilly Sneller. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, one brother: Thomas Hagen of Rhinelander, and four sisters: Mary (Robert) Ohlsson of Boulder Junction, Patricia (Roger) Kuczmarski of Rhinelander, Ruth (Michael) Oettinger of Eagle River, and Catherine Hagen of Rhinelander. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents: Vern and Catherine Hagen, two brothers: Peter Hagen, and Charles Hagen, and by a sister, Teresa Hagen.
The visitation for Jean will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service. Fr. Chris Kemp will officiate.
Inurnment at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery will take place at a later date.
