Students from Rhinelander High School visited Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital to learn about health care careers and services offered locally on Thursday, April 4 in a hands on event titled, “Discovery Day.” Over 40 students had the opportunity to visit Aspirus Health booths featuring several departments and services. Aspirus MedEvac demonstrated how the Lucas Device can help save lives while the Emergency Department asked students to practice their CPR skills. Other departments that offered interactive booths included the Birthing Center, James Beck Cancer Center, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Laboratory and the Inpatient Unit which highlighted a Willy Wonka-themed booth. The students are in the Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and AP Biology classes and the Discovery Day event showcased how the course applies to the medical field they’re interested in.
