Vote like the earth depends on it

To the Editor:

I encourage conservation advocates to always vote because it is a direct way to influence policy decisions, hold leaders accountable, and shape public discourse on environmental issues. By participating in elections, they can support candidates who prioritize environmental protection and sustainability, ensuring that their voices are heard in the democratic process. Furthermore, voting sends a clear message to policymakers about the importance of conservation, prompting them to take action and allocate resources to environmental initiatives.

Additionally, voter turnout among conservation advocates demonstrates widespread concern for the environment, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and encouraging others to engage in conservation efforts. In an era of escalating environmental challenges, from climate change to biodiversity loss, voting is a critical tool for effecting positive change and safeguarding the planet for future generations.

In Wisconsin, information on registration and voting can be found at MyVote.wi.gov. This site lists if you’re registered, your polling location, what’s on the ballot, how to vote absentee and other information.  It is very simple to follow. Don’t delay, check out this website, do the research on the candidates and vote like the earth depends on it. Primary election is April 2, 2024.
