RHS Sports recap: Friday, Sept. 29
Football: Medford 40, Rhinelander 8
Medford rushed for 367 yards and scored on five straight possessions Friday night as it defeated Rhinelander 40-8 at Mike Webster Stadium.
The GNC co-leading Raiders led 6-0 after a quarter, 20-0 at halftime and 40-0 after three quarters. After going 12 consecutive quarters without a score, the Hodag offense finally got into the end zone early in the fourth quarter on a 48-yard run by James Heck.
Paxton Rothmeier had 20 carries for 153 yards and three touchdowns for Medford while Carson Carbaugh added 117 yards on 12 carries. Heck finished just shy of the century mark for Rhinelander with 96 yards on 10 carries and added a pair of catches for 12 yards.
Rhinelander turned the ball over three times in the game. Truman Lamers finished 4 of 10 for 36 yards with a pair of interceptions.
Rhinelander (4-3, 2-3 Great Northern) travels to Merrill next Saturday.
