One person was cited for inattentive driving following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Highway 17 and Balsam Lane Tuesday evening. According to the Pine Lake Fire Department, firefighters arrived on scene to find one vehicle blocking the highway with fluid leaking and vehicle debris covering the scene. According to the Oneida County sheriff’s department’s report on the accident, Unit 1 was traveling southbound on Highway 17 near E. Balsam Lane. Unit 2 was stopped in the southbound lane and was waiting for the northbound traffic to thin before executing a lefthand turn. Unit 1 struck Unit 2 in the southbound lane in a front end to rear end collision. The driver of Unit 2 indicated he was completely stopped and was indicating a left turn with turn signal on. The driver of Unit 1 reported that he was sneezing “which caused him to not be able to see the road” causing the collision.  The driver of Unit 1 received the citation for inattentive driving.
