Rhinelander District Library adult department announces ‘spooky’ event

There’s a lot to do at the Rhinelander District Library this fall.

Get ready for spooky season and discover Wisconsin’s Most Haunted Locations with Chad Lewis on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Rhinelander library meeting room.

“This presentation takes the audience on a ghostly journey to some of the most haunted places in the state,” according to a library press release. “It covers the entire state, from wandering ghosts in the North Woods, to a haunted B&B in Milwaukee. From phantom creatures prowling the woods to graveyard apparitions located in your own backyard, no place in Wisconsin is without its own hauntings.”

The Rhinelander District Library and the North Lakeland Discovery Center are teaming up to present Bats of Wisconsin on Monday, Oct. 9 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the library meeting room. Learn about the incredible adaptations and benefits of Wisconsin’s bats with the North Lakeland Discovery Center. You’ll have a chance to meet a live bat up close!

The library will holds its third annual Pumpkin Carving Contest in October. Pick up a pumpkin at the library from Oct. 20-27 or use your own. Carve with care and return your jack-o-lantern masterpiece to the library by Saturday, Oct. 28 for voting and display. Pumpkins donated by Walmart of Rhinelander — limit one per family while supplies last. 

Also coming this fall is Workshop Wednesdays, to be held on the third Wednesday of every month in the library meeting room from 2 to 4 p.m., starting Oct. 18. Workshop Wednesdays is a pop-up craft area and Makerspace. Use a sewing machine for free, learn specialized skills from local experts, and work on your ongoing crafting projects. These, and all Rhinelander District Library programs are free and open to the public.
