RHS Sports recap: Friday, Sept. 22

Football: Mosinee 42, Rhinelander 0

The Rhineladner High School football team could not contain Mosinee’s big-play threats on Friday as Mosinee marched to a 42-0 victory in its homecoming.

Keagan Jirschele caught a pair of touchdown passes and also had a 64-yard score on a punt return. Wyatt Harris carried 16 times for 122 yards with two touchdowns and Elliott Yirkovsky added a score on an option pitch in the third quarter.

The Hodags, without running back Owen Kurtz (ankle) and center Kaeden Piller (illness) were held to 59 total yards of offense. Quarterback Truman Lamers was 6 of 14 passing for 27 yards, threw two interceptions and also lost a pair of fumbles as the Hodags turned the ball over four times.

Rhinelander (4-2, 2-2 Great Northern) hosts Medford this coming Friday.
