Football: Antigo 24, Rhinelander 0
The Rhinelander High School football team was dominated from the opening snap Friday night and lost to Antigo 24-0 in the 89th playing of the Bell Game at Mike Webster Stadium.
The Robins marched down the field for touchdowns on their first three possessions while the Hodag offense could never find its stride, held to just 65 yards of offense and two first downs on the night.
Alex Schlieve rushed for two scores for the Robins and Jayson Arrowood hauled in a 17-yard pass from Colton Thomae as the Robins led 21-0 at half. Antigo added a 20-yard field goal from Nolan Bunnell on the first play of the fourth quarter as they racked up 309 yards of total offense.
Owen Kurtz had 24 yards on five carries for Rhinelander, but left the game with an ankle injury on the final play of the first half and did not return to the contest. Payton Campbell was also limited to only defensive duties after tweaking his ankle in practice Wednesday for the Hodags.
Rhinelander (4-1, 2-1 Great Northern) travels to Mosinee next Friday.
