Carolyn Jane Schoepke

Carolyn Jane Schoepke, 87, of Woodruff, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023 at Lakeshore Memory Care in Lac du Flambeau.

Carolyn was born August 24, 1936 to Marvin E. and Myrtle F. West. She was born and grew up in Chicago. She married August J. Tamburrino, Jr. in 1952 and had two children, Susan and Michael. The family moved to Manitowish Waters in 1968 where they owned and managed a resort on Spider Lake. 

In 1978, Carolyn and August divorced and she went back to school to become a registered nurse. She worked at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff for many years as a rehab nurse and retired in the late 1990s. 

Carolyn married Donald M. Schoepke in October 1984. They lived in Woodruff and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family until Donald’s passing in 2010.

Carolyn was a kind-hearted individual who had a good sense of humor. She always rooted for the underdog and was a natural caretaker of others. The most important thing in her life was her family. She was a loving mom and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Carolyn developed Lewy Body Dementia and in 2020 she became a resident of Lakeshore Memory Care, where she lived until her passing.

Carolyn leaves behind her children, Susan (Donald) Kort and Michael (Gaye) Tamburrino, five grandchildren, Cara (Pat) Callahan, Katie Tamburrino, Nicolas Tamburrino, Matthew Tamburrino, and David (Lacey) Kort, and three great-grandchildren, Isabella and Bryce Saykally, and Lynden Kort.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Myrtle West, her brother Charles West, and her husband Donald Schoepke.

A memorial will be planned for summer, 2024. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeshore Memory Care and Compassus Hospice for the wonderful care she received in the last years of her life.
