Three Lakes to host Oktoberfest Sept. 16

Raise your steins and say “Prost” because Oktoberfest is returning to the Northwoods!

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Sept. 16, community members, families and tourists can experience Oktoberfest in all its beer foam and schwein roast glory in downtown Three Lakes.

“Once again, Three Lakes Oktoberfest will offer a variety of food, entertainment and vendors,” organizers said in a press release. “Stop by the Pig Roast, right on Superior Street, to support a group of students from Three Lakes High School raising money for an education trip next year. A variety of vendors will have baked goods, crafted wares, live demonstrations, and more for the Oktoberfest Market. There are still a few market spots available and interested vendors can reach out to [email protected] for an application. The return of games run by local nonprofits and friendly competitions provides ample reasons to visit the event. New this year the event will cover two blocks of Superior Street and one block of West School Street, allowing guests to stroll downtown through the market and into various shops.”

Live music will begin at 11 a.m. with the Jim Pekol Band performing upbeat polka music themed for the German event. Back by popular demand, the Pommersche Danz Gruppe from Wausau will entertain all ages, performing German folk dances in authentic costumes throughout the day. Wherever they appear, their musical performance strikes up a happy feeling with all people, young and old!

Get Your Game On...for a Cause

Returning this year is the addition of friendly games and competitions, run by various local organizations.

The nominal entry fees, ranging from $1 to $10, will directly benefit those organizations.

Forward Three Lakes will be challenging attendees with a “Steady Stein” competition. The participant who can hold two full steins above their shoulders for the longest time while losing the least amount of liquid will win a prize.

Downtown Three Lakes Rocks will be operating a Pretzel Toss with prizes for participants achieving a set number of points. Additional games will be held throughout the day, with more details coming soon. All event details can be found at www.facebook.com/oktoberfestthreelakes.

Event attendees are encouraged to stop in the downtown’s businesses in search of hidden pickles. Complete an entry form, listing the German words on the pickles, for a chance to win a great prize!

This event is hosted by Three Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, with significant event support from Redman Realty and Zastrow Beer.

Admission to Oktoberfest is free and the event will be held rain or shine.
