Hops N’ History Sept. 14
John Fredrickson, author and historian of aviation and railroads, will present a program on early railroad development and operation (traditional and narrow gauge) in the Northwoods as part of the Rhinelander Historical Society’s Hops N’ History series.
The free event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Rhinelander Brewing Company Tap Room (43 S. Brown Street).
“Until the railroads came to the Northwoods, transportation was challenging at best,” event organizers explained in a press release. “John will discuss how railroads allowed this area to develop, first with logging and then tourism. For good measure, he will touch on air travel and how that also benefited the Northwoods. While John is a native son to this area, he now resides in the State of Washington, so we are fortunate and appreciative to have him share his knowledge with us.”
