RHS alum Martin named UW-Whitewater football captain

Rhinelander High School alum Drake Martin this week was named one of five team captains for the upcoming season for the UW-Whitewater football team.

Martin appeared in 11 games last season for the Warhawks as a running back and on special teams. He registered a pair of carries for eight yards and eight receptions for 62 yards with a pair of touchdown catches. Martin was an integral part of the Warhawks' fantastic special teams defense last season with four tackles and a blocked kick. His special teams prowess earned All-WIAC recognition last season.

Martin, a 2020 RHS grad, finished as the second all-time leading rusher in Hodag football history, behind only Troy Doering.

The Warhawks coming into the second ranked 11th in the D3football.com poll. UW-Whitewater predicted as the favorite to win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Warhawks open the 2023 seasons Saturday at John Carroll University in Ohio.
