Gerald “Jerry” Edward Wallin

Gerald “Jerry” Edward Wallin, age 91 of Rhinelander and Waukegan, Ill., passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at the Aspirus St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. Jerry was born in Waukegan on Jan. 2, 1932 to Frank and Selma (Wallin) Wallin. Jerry attended schools in Waukegan and graduated high school in 1949. He married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Gabrielsen, on November 18, 1950 and together they raised their family in Waukegan.

Jerry served in the Navy during the Korean War, owned and operated a GM dealership in Guttenberg, Iowa, worked for ALM Surgical Solutions and judged dog shows along with Gloria for the American Kennel Club around the United States and Europe.

Jerry was a long-time Bears and Cubs fan and enjoyed woodworking and muskie fishing.

Jerry is survived by his children Laurel (Laurie) Destry of North Carolina, Kimberly (Robert) Goodin of Rhinelander, and Jeffry (Rachel) Wallin of Rhinelander, grandchildren Katherine Albert, Daniel (Mandy) Wallin, Michael Wallin, Catherine Wedemeyer, Katherine Wallin, and Angela Alday, great-grandchildren Travis Wallin, Derrick Wallin, Amelia Wallin, and Madison Wedemeyer, sister Elizabeth Kelly of Arkansas, friend and companion Lois Sabatke, other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria in 2009, his parents and four siblings.
