33rd annual Clean & Freeky Halloween Oct. 28

For 33 years the Northern N.A. groups that make up the Woods and Waters Area of Narcotics Anonymous have hosted the annual Clean & Freeky Recovery night.

This year marks the return of the event to the Ray Sloan community Center in Lake Tomahawk on Saturday, Oct. 28.

The Journey’s Convention sub-committee meets at 2 p.m. followed by the Woods & Waters Area Service committee at 3 p.m., organizers said in a press release. There will be a potluck dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. with an open speaker meeting at 7 p.m. Immediately following the speaker the annual Clean & Freeky Halloween dance will begin. The night includes a costume contest with prizes.  Anyone with an interest in recovery is welcome.

This event began on Halloween in 1990 and continues its mission of celebrating and carrying the message of recovery.

The Woods & Waters Area is made up of 41 NA groups from Northern Wisconsin and the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. NA is a non-profit fellowship of recovering men and women of all ages. There are no initiation fees or dues. The NA fellowship is open to anyone with the desire to stop using drugs regardless of one’s drug of choice, including alcohol. The Woods & Waters Area sponsors  summer campouts, February’s “Off The Grid” Retreat, 5 Open speaker meetings and dances and the annual Journey’s Convention in June.
