In a sure sign that the Christmas season is almost here, organizers of the annual Christmas Bazaar at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rhinelander have begun preparing lefse, a traditional Norwegian flatbread popular during the holiday season. The Trinity Christmas Bazaar is scheduled 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. In addition to lefse, it also includes bakery treats, hand-crafted items, including Christmas wreaths and decorations, collectibles and fun White Elephant items. The women of Trinity are preparing a delicious luncheon consisting of several soup choices, BBQ sandwich with chips, homemade pies and beverages, according to a press release announcing the event. The day starts with a “warm welcome” coffee/tea and Christmas cookies served from 9 to 10 a.m. Proceeds from the bazaar go to mission projects. Pictured, from left to right, making lefse are Larry Kleinschmidt, Peter Leick, Rick Brice and Jodie Brice. In the background near the stove is Sue Johnson.
