Boys’ soccer: Mosinee 2, Rhinelander 0

The RHS boys’ soccer team’s season came to an end Saturday with a 2-0 loss to Mosinee in the WIAA Division 3 regional finals in Mosinee. 

Mosinee struck twice in the first half with goals from Cole Kowalski and Jaegar Dhein and kept the Hodags off the board. Mosinee outshout Rhinelander 33-11 in the match. Barak Rappley made 14 saves in defeat for Rhinelander.

The Hodags end the season with a 9-5-3 record.

Cross country: RHS boys 4th/14, girls 6th/9, WIAA sectionals

The RHS cross country team finished out the 2023 season at WIAA Division 2 sectionals in Colby on Saturday. The Hodag boys took fourth and the Hodag girls finished ninth.

Junior Greyson Gremban, in contention for an individual state qualifying spot, faded over the final half mile and finished 11th in the boys’ race (17:29.5) — two spots and roughly 28 seconds out of advancing. Avrom Barr was 19th, Gavin Denis took 31st, Jackson Weinzatl was 35th and Augustus Porter was 54.

Leah Jamison led the Hodag girls in 20th (21:23.1). That was 13 places and roughly a minute out of the final transfer spot in the girls race. Sophie Miljevich was 30th, Ella Miljevich finished 39th, Hayley Schiek was 43rd and Kara Monk was 44th.
