Donna Marie Mortensen

Donna Marie Mortensen, age 93, of Rhinelander, died on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023 at Rennes Health and Rehab in Rhinelander.

She was born on Oct. 9, 1930, in Rhinelander, to Royal and Margaret (Snaith) Todd.

Donna spent her whole life in Rhinelander and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1948. After school she worked for the phone company until she was married to her first husband Kenneth Russell. She was then employed by the Bump Clinic in Rhinelander as a receptionist. After Kenneth died in 1976 Donna married Arthur “Whitey” Mortensen and they managed the Downtowner for many years.

Donna enjoyed many things that included traveling around the country with her husband Whitey, in her later years she enjoyed dancing with the “Hodag Honeys,” card games, and playing bingo.

Donna is survived by her daughters Renee Feight of Eau Claire, Beth (Patrick) Maass of Rhinelander, and Susan (Frank) DeNamur of Harrison, sons Mark Russell of Eau Claire, and Michael (Julie) Russell of Rhinelander, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Kenneth Russell and Arthur ”Whitey” Mortensen, parents, brother Richard Todd, and sister Lois Schoepke.

A funeral for Donna will be held at the Carlson Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Father Christopher Kemp officiating.
