RHS sports recap: Monday, Oct. 16

Girls’ swimming: Rhinelander 140, Antigo 20

The Rhinelander High School girls’ swim team finished Great Northern Conference dual meet play with its second perfect score of the season Monday night, defeating Antigo 140-20 at the Heck Family Community Pool. 

Senior Abi Winnicki, in her final home swim, broke her own Heck Pool record in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 52.92 seconds. It was one of four wins on the night for Winnicki as she, fellow senior Karis Francis and freshman Celia Francis, were on all three winning relays. 

The Hodags had eight different winners in the eight individual events. June Chiamulera won the 200 freestyle, Emma Houg took the 200 individual medley, Vivian Lamers claimed the 50 freestyle, Lily Thorsen won the 100 butterfly, Ellyse Younker took the 500 freestyle, Rylee Mickevicius claimed the 100 backstroke and Karis Francis won the 100 breaststroke. 

Rhinelander (7-0) finished undefeated in GNC dual meet play, winning all 11 events in all seven conference duals. The Hodags will look to put the finishing touches on a fifth straight conference title Friday during the GNC championship meet in Antigo.
