OCHD announces community resources to increase access to flu and COVID-19 vaccines

Preventing severe illnesses related to the flu and COVID-19 is a top priority for the Oneida County Health Department (OCHD). With that, OCHD wants to make it easier for community members to get their flu and COVID vaccines.

The department is partnering with Northwoods Transit Connections and the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Oneida County to ensure all individuals have access to flu and COVID vaccines. Through a grant from National Council of Aging (NCOA), OCHD will be working with community members to offer:

• Transportation Assistance: Rides to and from community clinics for people who do not have their own transportation or have trouble getting there.

• Drive-up Vaccines: For those individuals who may have limited mobility or disability and would prefer a vaccine from their vehicle.

• Home Visits: For those individuals that have an acute or chronic illness, limited mobility, injury, developmental disability, or mental health condition that makes it difficult to leave the home.
