Ruth Mae Reader, 81, of the Town of Woodboro, passed away at Rennes Health & Rehab Center on Saturday morning, Sept. 30, 2023, with her family at her side.
Ruth was born May 27, 1942, to James and Margaret Roberts. She grew up with her nine siblings in Monico. Ruth married the love of her life, Roger Reader, on June 27, 1964. They were blessed with three children and four grandchildren.
Ruth loved her family and always put them first. She never missed a chance to tell her family she loved them. Ruth was firm in her faith in God and was an active member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.
Ruth enjoyed her employment with Birchfield Nurseries for several years. She also volunteered at the Thrift Shop and enjoyed babysitting with the MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) group.
Ruth enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, and gardening. She also enjoyed baking, crocheting and sewing. She was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Roger Reader Sr., son, Roger Reader Jr. (Kris), and daughters, Corinne (Phil) Hopkins and Lynn (Donn) Corey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brett Reader, Joshua Hopkins, Mary Jane Hopkins and Erin Hopkins; her sisters, Marcia Rudis, Doris Coppenger and Bonnie Roberts and a sister-in-law, Jane Roberts. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents James and Margaret Roberts, brothers James, Jerry, Al and George, her sisters Betty (Floyd) Pence and Patricia Roberts and brothers-in-law, Gilbert Rudis and Ed Coppenger.
The visitation for Ruth will be held on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 125 E. King Street, from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. Chris Kemp will be the officiant. Reconstruction of King Street continues. We ask that when arriving, please park in the parking lot located behind Nativity of Our Lord Grade School. The entrance to the parking lot is located on Pelham Street.
Immediately following the Mass, there will be a procession to Northland Memorial Park for the committal service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ruth may be given to the Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing (NATH), 204 W. Frederick Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501.
The family would like to thank Rennes Health & Rehab Center and the Hospice nurses and volunteers for their thoughtfulness and kindness.
