RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, Nov. 28


Girls’ basketball: Rhinelander 44, Medford 29


The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team turned in its best defensive effort of the season and put the clamps on Medford in a 44-29 victory on the road Tuesday night in the Great Northern Conference opener for both teams. 


The Hodags used an 18-2 run to end the first half to go up 27-12 at the break, and then scored 15 of the first 17 points in the second to build a lead as large as 28 points. 


Rhinelander held Medford to under 24% from the field on 10 of 42 shooting and outrebounded the Raiders 35-32. The Hodags won despite going a season-worst 2 of 22 from 3-point range.


Lily Treder led the Hodags with 18 points while Aubryn Clark had 10. Taylor Klingbeil paced Medford with nine. 


The Hodags (3-2, 1-0 Great Northern) host Antigo on Friday.
