An Eagle River man died on Nov. 15  as the result of a one-vehicle crash on Sundstein Road in the town of Lincoln.

In a press release, Lt. Jeff Schaub of the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, reported that a wireless 911 call was received just after 8 p.m. reporting a vehicle versus tree crash.

“Upon arrival, deputies observed a 2004 GMC Yukon had struck a tree and part of the tree was across Sundstein Road,” Schaub said in the press release. “Initial investigation shows that the driver, a 34 year old man from Eagle River, was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Sundstein Road when he lost control and struck a tree.”

Schaub said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene “due to injuries sustained in the crash.”

As press time for this edition, the driver’s name had not yet been released.
