RHS Sports recap: Thursday, Nov. 16
Girls’ basketball: Rhinelander 67, Crandon 38
The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team was on fire in its season opener. The Hodags his a program-record 15 3-pointers and rolled past Crandon 67-38 Thursday night at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
Rhinelander took the lead for good thanks to a 21-2 run midway through the first and led 47-19 at the break. Crandon never got the deficit under 20 points in the second half.
Freshman Aubryn Clark dazzled in her debut for Rhinelander, scoring a game-high 28 points while adding six rebounds and nine assists. Leah Jamison tallied a career-high 19 points and Lily Treder had 14 as the Hodags shot just under 50% for the game (24 of 49) and went 15 of 32 from beyond the arc.
Lily Palubicki had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead Crandon.
Rhinelander (1-0, 0-0 Great Northern) hosts Rice Lake on Monday.
