The Hodag boys dominated, winning eight events and taking the title by 53 points over runner-up Northland Pines. The Hodag girls needed a bit of help at the end, but edged Mosinee by one point for the conference title. JWMS won the 4x400-meter relay (4 minutes, 51.64 seconds) and got a final straightaway pass by Minocqua-Hazelhurst-Lake Tomahawk over Mosinee for second place to account for the final margin.
Eric Parish took the conference titles in shot put (36 feet, 1/2 inch) and discus (122-11) for the JWMS boys. Avrom Barr claimed the 800-meter run (2:26.68) and the long jump (16-4 1/2). Cooper Saari took the 200-meter hurdles (32.42) and the Hodags won 4x200 (1:50.81), 4x400 (4:12.69) and 4x800 (11:11.12) relays.
Olivia Ruetz took the girls' 200 meters (28.86), Lucy Eddy claimed the 400 (1:06.44) and Teagan Clark won the 1,600 (6:16.53) for JWMS. In addition to the 4x400 the Hodag girls also took the 4x800 (12:25.87).
The conference meet was originally scheduled for Thursday, May 18, but was postponed due to inclement weather. The meet was comprised mostly of middle schools for Great Northern Conference school districts. Due to the postponement, Merrill, Medford and Tomahawk were unable to attend Wednesday's meet.
