RHS sports recap: Friday, May 19
Rhinelander's Great Northern Conference title hopes ended on Friday with a 1-0 loss to Lakeland in a girls' soccer match at Mike Webster Stadium.
Alyson Lazaroff's 25th-minute goal proved to be the difference for the Thunderbirds, who clinched the conference title outright thanks to a regular season sweep of the Hodags. Rhinelander held a narrow 20-18 edge in shots on the contest, but Lakeland had an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal. Mya Krouze made seven saves in defeat.
Rhinelander (11-5-0, 7-2-0 Great Northern) rounds out the regular season Tuesday at home against Mosinee.
