Opening day consisted of a parade of teams around the ball fields at Hodag Park, a recognition of volunteers, coaches and sponsors and scrimmages for all teams in the program, from 5U tee ball up to 14U softball.
Hodag Little League president Ben Gauthier addressed those in attendance prior to Saturday scrimmages, and stated the program had more than 300 participants this year between baseball and softball.
"I want to thank our board members who helped put together this event and helped get us ready for the season. I want to thank the parents for getting their kids involved in baseball. I truly believe that baseball is the greatest sport, and I love the amount of excitement and the amount of kids we have out this year," he said.
