Scores of runners turned out at Mike Webster Stadium Saturday, May 13 for the inaugural color run sponsored by Rhinelander High School's HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Club. The event included a 5-kilometer run/walk through the School District of Rhinelander campus, with stations along the way to cover the participants in different colors of chalk. There was also a one-mile fun run for those age 13 and under. According to SDR, proceeds from the event will go to the family of a student in the district that is working to pay outstanding medical bills. Addressing the participants afterward, HOSA Club member Allie Dornfeld, a senior at RHS, stated that supporting the event, "not only helps students for medical careers, but also impacts our community. We appreciate those who purchased raffle basket tickets to help raise money for the HOSA Club at RHS. The money will support a family and a young girl at Crescent Elementary. From this event we raised a total of $3,440 for the family and cannot thank all of you enough. This student and their family has had a lot to battle and the fight continues. Thank you for all for being a part of this."
