Wall That Heals procession May 16
The exhibit is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. and bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
Casey Lehmann, Nicolet Financial Aid advisor and site coordinator, said Nicolet "is honored to have been selected to host The Wall That Heals."
Lehmann submitted Nicolet's application to host the exhibit and noted the school is one of 31 out of 100 sites chosen for 2023.
Vietnam War veteran Jim Sprague, with Wisconsin Post 11 of the American Legion Riders, told The Lakeland Times he and other bikers will stage at the Northwood Golf Club in Rhinelander at noon on May 16 to escort the exhibit to Nicolet. He said the procession is for motorcyclists only.
"We're gonna have the police department and then the fire department's gonna be coming out and escorting us down Kemp Street, Oneida Avenue to County Highway G to Nicolet College," Sprague said.
"During the processional we encourage everyone to come out and line the streets to see and honor The Wall That Heals as it heads to Nicolet," Lehmann said.
The exhibit will be assembled in the field on May 17 and will be open to the public 24 hours a day from May 18 until 2 p.m. May 21.
