Rhinelander High School students attend International Career Development Conference
Roughly 22,000 high schoolers from all 50 states and 12 countries like Canada, Guam, South Korea, and the U.S. Territories were represented.
"There were two methods students could qualify to get to Orlando; two DECA members placed in the top seven of their event at state, while four more members were accepted to the Emerging Leaders Academies," the release states." Either way, all those who attended gained fantastic experience for future endeavors as they become more involved with the chapter or head to college."
Cody Ruetz placed fourth in the Business Growth Plan event at state to reach ICDC by creating a plan to grow C&C Fabrication, a business he co-owns. Kate Ripple placed seventh at state in the Business Finance event. Kylie Gechas, Taylor Riopel, and Bryan Glover went as representatives for the Thrive Academy and Payton McCue attended an Emerging Leaders Conference, a leadership academy focused on improving critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, and innovation, the release states.
The Rhinelander chapter was recognized for its contributions to MDA (the national DECA charity) and placed 10th in the world for its donations this year. Although no one from Rhinelander was able to reach finals, the students did have the opportunity to do more than compete. Universal Studios hosted a DECA night, where the park was closed to the public and open to only DECA members, and the students had an evening at Disney Magic Kingdom.
"It was a busy five days, but those who went will remember the experience for a lifetime," the release states.
