The James Williams Middle School track team scored a sweep of the boys' and girls' division of a five-team meet at Mike Webster Stadium Monday, May 8. The JWMS boys won by 58 points over Medford while the Hodag girls bested Medford by 43 1/2 points.
On the boys' side, Eric Parish won the discus and the shot put, Renin Craig took the 200-meter dash, Mathew Haselton won the 110 hurdles, Cooper Saari won the 200 hurdles and Avrom Barr claimed the high jump.
Teagan Clark took the 800 and 1600 for the Hodag girls, Karly Gillingham won the 100 and the long jump, Olivia Ruetz took the 200, Lucy Eddy claimed the 400 and JWMS won the 4x400 relay with the team of Eddy, Clark, Ruetz and Aleece Johnson.
JWMS will host the middle school conference meet Thursday, May 18.
JV golfers score pair of fifth-place finishes
The Rhinelander High School JV golf team took fifth in a pair of Great Northern Conference JV meets held Thursday, May 4 at Riverview Golf Course in Antigo and Friday, May 5 at Northwood Golf Club in Rhinelander.
The Hodags shot 224 for the nines Thursday in Antigo, led by Cooper Radke with a 46. Tate Werner shot 54. Isaac Mickevicius and Ryan Morien each shot 62. Mickevicius was Rhinelander's best score on Friday with a 56 at Northwood. Morien shot 57, Werner shot 59 and Radke carded a 60.
